Skincare Cosmetics - 3 Things That Make A Skin Cream Worth Buying
By Carol Truesdale
I think it's the nature of every skincare consumer to wonder if there's a better product out there. We truly are a fickle bunch of consumers. This month you use this skin cream, but next month, it's a different one. I can't fault you though; there are so many aging skincare products on the shelf. And a lot of them simply don't work. But, let's face it, with each disappointing skin cream, you become a little more lost in how to fight the slow creep of skin aging.

Don't give up!

Finding effective aging skincare products is a frustrating, costly process, but you can remove a lot of that frustration. By putting each new product you come across through a pre-purchase test, you can weed out all the poor and mediocre skincare cosmetics. You may already do something like this, if so, that's excellent. Let's build on it. However, if doing this is new to you, that's okay too; you will gain a lot of confidence in your purchases once this becomes a habit.

So what is this pre-purchase test?

As a skincare consumer, my approach to buying products has evolved a great deal. When I was younger, I would buy skin creams based on little more than a brand name or a friend's advice. Luckily, skin looks naturally good when you're young, because I bought some absolute garbage products. But, as I got older, I started to learn about skin aging and my approach to skincare became much more scientific (as you'll see).

First, did you know there are three root causes of skin aging? It's true, here they are:

The production of collagen and elastin slows down.
The level of hyaluronic acid slowly decreases.
Free radicals attack

skin cells causing oxidative damage.

These root causes are actually natural processes and they become more destructive to your skin's appearance as you age. This pre-purchase test is simple then. It's determining whether an aging skincare cream targets and reverses these major skin agers.

Let's focus in one one of these root causes---hyaluronic acid. Out of the three, this one is probably the least familiar to you. Hyaluronic acid gives collagen and elastin fibers their stickiness. But as you age, a harmful enzyme called hyaluronidase activates and slowly starts breaking down hyaluronic acid in your body. As the supply decreases and collagen and elastin lose their "glue", skin loses its glow and dark circles often show up under the eyes.

So how do you maintain the level of hyaluronic acid?

You need to block the enzyme hyaluronidase's harmful action.

One natural substance with this power is called Phytessence Wakame. It's an extract from a species of sea kelp found in the Sea of Japan. If you've ever wondered how Japanese women age so gracefully, well, this kelp is one of their natural beauty secrets. It's a common food in Japan. So that's one thing I look for in skincare cosmetics---Phytessence Wakame. But, remember, this pre-purchase test is three-pronged, because there are three root causes of skin aging.

Would you like to continue learning about this approach to aging skincare? If so, I encourage you to visit my website and learn about the other two big skin agers and how to effectively combat them. Visit now and start applying this pre-purchase test; you'll identify the best skincare with ease and confidence.
